Man Steals From His 81 Old Mother

On July 30, 2010 Detective Roger Bell arrested Roger Brown for Dealing in Stolen Property.  The defendants 81 years of age mother reported that in May of this year she went in to the hospital and returned home in July.  Upon the victim returning home she discovered her wedding band ring and earrings missing from the residence and notified the Levy County Sheriff's Office. 

 

The investigation revealed that Brown lives with his mother and was home during her stay in the hospital.  On May 26, 2010 Brown pawned the jewelry at Pesso's Pawn Shop for $ 1,100.  The owner of Pesso's positively identified Brown in a photo line up.

 

Brown was currently in the Levy County jail for driving on a suspended drivers license and possession of cocaine.  Detective Bell spoke to Brown and questioned him if he stole or pawn his mother's jewelry. Brown denied any knowledge of the crime and Detective Bell showed Brown the pawn/sales receipt from Pesso's Pawn with Brown's signature and thumb print.  Brown stated that he does not recall pawning or selling the ring.

Convicted Felon Arrested Again

Fanning Springs, Florida-Deputy Michael Wilkinson responded to 7311 NW 168TH Lane in reference to a domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival the victim stated that his cousin, Gary Andrew Sullivan pulled up in his driveway and began an altercation with the victim.

 

While the victim was standing at the driver's window Sullivan punched the victim in the face and stabbed him with a knife in the chest.  The victim immediately defended himself and punched the suspect in the face and the suspect drove away.  The victim was treated and was released at the scene with minor injuries.  The suspect suffered a contusion to the face and was treated and released from the University of Florida Shands Hospital.

 

Sullivan was arrested for domestic aggravated battery and was transported to the Levy County Jail.  Sullivan was released from prison on December 1, 2009 for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Yankeetown Man Attacks Victim With Shovel

Deputy Leroy Prine responded to a domestic fight at 26 Knots Way Yankeetown.  Upon arrival he met with the victim who stated that EJ Kennedy pushed him and threatened him with a shovel.  During the altercation Kennedy stated to the victim "I could really hurt you".  The victim advised that Kennedy had a shovel in his hand and threatened to kill him.  The victim stated that he was in fear of his life.  Kennedy was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was transported to the Levy County Jail.

Willston Man Arrested For A/C Theft

Williston, Florida-On July 19, 2010 the victim reported that she was driving by her rental property at 18650 NE 40th street and seen a white truck pulling a trailer.  The victim noticed that the trailer had an air conditioner on the trailer and she immediately checked her rental home and discovered her A/C stolen.  The victim attempted to locate the suspect but the truck fled the area.

 

Sgt. Mike Narayan and Deputy Scott Stancil began the investigation and identified Tyler Price Kittle as the driver of the white truck.  Kittle borrowed a trailer from a friend on the date of the theft.  Through the investigation deputies located similar truck and trailer tracks leading down a dirt lane and located the stolen A/C unit in the woods.

 

On July 28, 2010 Kittle was located and arrested in the city of Williston.  Kittle is currently on probation for grand theft.

Bronson Woman Arrested

Bronson, Fl-On July 28, 2010 Deputy Clint Anderson arrested Toni Parnell for nine counts of uttering a forged instrument and grand theft.

 

The victim called the Levy County Sheriff's Office and reported that she was missing money from her Perkins State Bank account.  The investigation revealed that the victim knew the suspect, Toni Parnell and the checks were cashed at the IGA Grocery store in Bronson. Parnell received over $ 1,600 from the forged checks and admitted that she knew it was wrong & was going through tough times.

Buy Bust Two Chiefland Men Arrested

Chiefland, Fl.-On July 28, 2010 the Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force and the Chiefland Police Department arrested Jason Lavers White and Hamp Jose Shelton for selling crack cocaine.

 

Undercover Drug Agents purchased $ 50.00 dollars worth of crack cocaine from White and Shelton at the South Chevron in Chiefland around 4 PM.  The buy bust went as planned until the suspects decided to run and resist undercover Agents.  White ran east on foot through the woods and was apprehended by Agent Burt Miller.  White resisted arrest and struck Miller in the face and he sustained some contusions to the face.  White also had 2.7 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket when he was arrested.

 

Shelton ran west on foot and ran across US Highway 19 a four (4) lane divided highway.  During the foot chase Shelton was steadily throwing crack cocaine on the ground.  Agents were able to locate approximately 4/10 of a gram of cocaine in the woods. 

 

The subjects were transported to the Levy County Jail with no bond.

Buy Bust in Chielfand

On 07-26-2010 The Levy County Drug Task Force conducted a "Buy Bust" operation with a confidential source.  Agents purchased sixty (60) Roxycodone tablets from Nicholas Payne for twelve hundred dollars in US Currency.  At 4:35 pm the confidential source met with Payne at the Walgreen's parking lot in Chiefland, Fl.

 

Payne and his passenger, John Lopez traveled from Pinellas County for the sole purpose of selling narcotics to undercover Agents.  After the drug transaction Payne circled the parking lot and picked up Lopez in front of the store. Drug Agents maintained surveillance on the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at the intersections of NW 70th Ave and NW 115th Street.  Payne and Lopez were arrested without incident.  A search of the vehicle revealed the marked US Currency in the center console of the vehicle.

 

Payne admitted to selling the pills and that he was just going through hard times in life. Payne advised that Lopez agreed to be his look out.  Payne was additionally charged for a Pinellas County Warrant for failure to redeliver hired or leased personal property.

 

Lopez stated that Payne asked him to ride with him to Chiefland to sale a computer. Lopez said prior to arriving in Levy County he discovered that Payne was meeting an individual to sell narcotics & he agreed to be the look out during the drug transaction.

Pot House Over $100,000 Seized

On 07/23/2010 at 4:36 pm the Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 9450 NW 60th Street Chiefland. The residence is under the control of Rocky Randell Lanier and prior to Agents arrival he attempted to destroy his indoor marijuana grow house. Lanier pulled all his marijuana plants up, bagged them in trash bags and hid them in the woods behind his garage. A total of one hundred and three (103) marijuana plants and marijuana root balls were collected and placed into evidence. The garage had been transformed into an indoor marijuana grow with two rooms inside. These rooms were full of grow equipment to include the following: fertilizers, automatic watering systems, grow dan, 11 grow lights, 12 ballasts and numerous other pieces of equipment used in cultivation of marijuana.



Inside Lanier's residence investigators found a total of two hundred twenty one (221) grams of processed marijuana in various locations from the kitchen to Lanier's master bedroom. Multiple marijuana smoking devices were discovered throughout the residence to include a modified gas mask to smoke marijuana, digital scales, rolling papers, a tablet identified as Morphine Sulfate 30 mg DEA Schedule II narcotic, .22 cal. rifles, 12 gauge Shotgun and a 30-30 rifle were also found in Lanier's residence.



Lanier stated that he didn't harm anyone that he kept to himself, and it wasn't like he was bringing "stuff" in across the Mexico border.



This case originally began when an electric company employee contacted this officer advising that he was conducting routine service checks at the Lanier's residence and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence. Lanier left the residence prior to Agents arrival but he was located in the Fowlers Bluff area. When Agents made contact with Lanier he reeked of marijuana and had marijuana leaves all over his clothing and inside the vehicle.



The seizure was more than 105,000 dollars in drugs and drug equipment.

Chiefland Drug Bust

Chiefland, Florida- On July 22, 2010 the Levy County Sheriff's Office and the Chiefland Police Department arrested nine drug dealers in the Chiefland area.  The undercover buys began in January of this year and Agents made 77 felony and 9 misdemeanor charges.  This is only the first phase of the operation and there are many more drug dealers that will be arrested.  Major Evan Sullivan stated that we want every drug dealer in Levy County to be wondering not if but when they will be arrested.

Inmate Arrested For Introducing Contraband At Jail

Bronson, Florida-Wanted sex offender Kevin Lee Arcangeli turned himself into Levy County authorities for a violation of probation warrant.  Arcangeli was convicted in 2005 for lewd and lascivious behavior on a child between 12-15 years of age.  Upon being booked at the Levy County Jail it came to attention of the Jail staff that Arcangeli was in possession of narcotics. 

 

The investigation revealed that Arcangeli placed pills in a latex glove and swallowed the pills prior to turning himself in.  Arcangeli defecated the gloves that contained the pills and distributed them to other inmates.  Two latex finger tips were recovered with five methadone pills, one oxycodone and two morphine pills.  Deputy Britton Drew arrested Arcangeli for introducing contraband into a detention facility, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of paraphernalia.
