October 17, 2018

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and Criminal Investigations Division (CID) executed a search warrant at the home located at 21130 NE 40 Street in East Williston at 7 AM yesterday morning. CID investigators developed information over a two week period that led to this search warrant being issued. The object of this investigation was to recover reported stolen firearms.

Investigators entered the home and immediately took Devontre Dallas (6-4-2000) of Williston into custody. Devontre Dallas was a suspect in a recently reported residential burglary where two guns were reported stolen. This firearm along with cocaine and prescription narcotics was found inside the room where Devontre was located by investigators.

Investigators began the search of the home and were interrupted by Daryl Dallas (4-30-71) of Williston. Daryl Dallas drove through the scene which had been cordoned off with yellow crime tape and confronted investigators. Daryl Dallas refused to comply with all commands, resisted investigators and was arrested.

Resuming their search investigators located more than they expected. A total of sixteen (16) firearms were found inside the home, some were hidden and some were in laying in plain view. Four of these guns were immediately identified as previously being reported stolen. Concerning to law enforcement was the large number of high powered rifles capable of firing through vehicles. And numerous handguns, one of which will fire through law enforcement’s bullet proof vests, were also seized. Neither Daryl Dallas nor Devontre Dallas is a registered hunter nor do they possess valid hunting licenses.

Suspected stolen property, for example flat screen TVs, along with a previously reported stolen compound hunting bow and a trail camera were recovered. And, investigators located illegal narcotics. Cocaine, prescription pain pills and heroin was found. Among this were all of the supplies and paraphernalia needed to manufacture, package and sell drugs.

This investigation will not end with these two arrests and the recovery of these stolen items. Investigators anticipate information gained during this phase of the investigation will result in more criminal charges being filed and additional arrests being made. Investigators ask that anyone who has information related to this case contact Investigator Scott Stancil or Investigator Mike Wilkinson at 352-486-5111.

Daryl Dallas was charged with obstructing the execution of a search warrant and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $50,000.00.

Devontre Dallas was charged with burglary while armed; the guns previously reported stolen during a residential burglary were found in his room. He was also charged with two counts of grand theft of a firearm, resisting arrest and obstructing the execution of a search warrant. He is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $250,000.00. Additional charges are being filed today.
