Buy Bust Chiefland

The Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force did a buy bust drug deal at 712 East Park Avenue in Chiefland. Agent Bowers posed as a drug dealer and purchased a trafficking amount of roxicodone from Rickey Mack Meeks for $ 800.00.

 

Upon the drug deal being completed agents immediately arrested Meeks and transported him to the Levy County Jail. Law enforcement agencies in the United States are seeing an alarming increase of prescription pills use and illegal transactions.  Anyone that would like to report prescription abuse to the Sheriff's Office can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477.

Sexual Predator Address Change:

 

In accordance with Florida Statue 775.21, this is a mandatory notification of the changing of address of a registered sexual predator in Levy County.

 

Frank E. Raub was convicted in Gilchrist County for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious on a child.

Adan Flores Arrested

Date:                September 4, 2010

Time:                2:00 pm

 

On 09/03/2010 the Levy County Sheriff's Office received a phone call from Jose Perez.  Perez said his ex-girlfriend called her sister and he requested help. The victim stated to Perez that her boyfriend, Adan Flores had beaten her and would not allow her to leave the residence. Deputies arrived at 17951 SE 30^th street Morriston and the victim ran out the front door to deputies and she was hysterical & crying.

 

The victim said on September 3, 2010 around 0300 hours she came home from her job as a bartender. She said that Flores got angry because she consumed alcoholic beverage before coming home. Victim stated Flores became verbally abusive calling her names and cursing at her, which ended with physical abuse.  Flores would not let the victim leave the residence by hiding her car keys, not allowing her to use the phone and he became physically abusive each time she tried to escape.

 

Victim started being nice to Flores and he eventually allowed her to use his phone. The victim called her sister for help and spoke very softly and in code that Flores would not suspect. Since her sister did not know where she lived she told her to call a car rental business to obtain her address and call for help.  The Sheriff's Office received the third party 9-1-1 call and located the residence.  The victim had bruises on her body and Flores was arrested for false imprisonment, domestic battery and preventing communication to law enforcement.

DUI Check Point Inglis

On Sep 3, 2010 the Levy County Sheriff's Office and the Inglis Police Department conducted a DUI sobriety check point at 135 CR-40, in front of Inglis Town Hall. From 10PM-130aM deputies and officers checked 60 cars and wrote eight citations and several written warning.

On Sept. 3, 2010 from 10pm-2:00 AM the Levy County Sheriff's Office and the Inglis Police Department will be conducting a DUI, driver license and a vehicle safety check point on Highway 40 in front of the Inglis Town Hall. Drivers are asked to have their drivers license, registration and insurance card ready at the check point.

Bronson Man Arrested In Domestic Dispute

On August 30, 2010 around 2:30 in the morning Deputy Joseph Sabbag & Deputy Matthew King responded to 559 East Thrasher Drive in Bronson.  A female caller was screaming on 9-1-1 that her husband was beating & choking her and then the phone was disconnected.

 

Upon arrival they knocked on the door and announced Sheriff's Office open the door. After a considerable amount of time they could see a male moving in the residence but he would not open the front door.  King stated that if he did not come to the door he was going to kick the door in. 

 

Joseph Williams finally came to the door and was very aggressive to the two deputies.  Williams was held at gun point and instructed to get on the ground but he refused their orders.  Williams used some obscenities towards the deputies stating he would not comply and Dep. Sabbag shot him with his department taser.  Williams went to the ground and complied with the deputies orders and Williams was taken into custody without further incident.

 

The altercation began when Williams asked the victim where the money order was and she replied in her wallet.  After Williams could not find the money order he threw the victim's wallet striking her in the back and then threw her down on the couch and began choking her.  The victim was able to retrieve a phone and call 9-1-1 but never had a chance to speak to a 9-1-1 operator. The 9-1-1 operator attempted to contact the caller but Williams would not allow her to answer the phone.

 

Williams was charged with felony battery with strangulation, domestic batter and depriving a victim to call 9-1-1.

Flooding in Rosewood

MEDIA RELEASE

According to the National Weather Center Levy County has received over 15 inches of rain in the past week.  Levy County Citizens in the Rosewood area has seen there share of water.  Businesses in the Rosewood area had to close there doors due to the flooding. The photo attached to this press release was taken Friday, August 27, 2010.  The business is the Viertel U-haul located at 7150 SW SR-24 and it is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Viertel.
