In accordance with Florida Statue 775.21, this is a mandatory notification of the changing of address of a registered sexual predator in Levy County.



Jeffrey E. Lashley was arrested in 2002 for lewd and lascivious molestation on a child. Lashley was additionally arrested and convicted in 2004 for sexual battery in Levy County. In 2004, Lashley was classified as a sexual predator and failed to comply by registering with law enforcement. Lashley is now living in Cedar Key, Fl.

Bronson Man Arrested On Sex Charges

On February 8, 2012 Corporal Mike Bell arrested Timothy Ray Fields Jr. for lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.

 

Deputy Kevin Kink responded to a residence in Levy County in reference to sexual assault complaint.  Upon arrival the victim (Juvenile) advised that she was raped two weeks ago by Fields.  The victim stated that she did not report the crime because she was scared and the assault occurred in Fields vehicle.  The victim stated that Fields coerced her to have sex and told her that he loved her.

 

Corporal Bell with the Criminal Investigations Division assisted in the investigation and obtained a tape statement from Fields confessing to the crime.  Fields was arrested and transported to the Levy County Jail where he has $ 400,000 bond.

Georgia Man Arrested For Aggravated Battery 7 Marijuana

On February 5, 2012 Deputy Jason Gallup arrested Joe Benard Floyd Jr for aggravated battery and possession of marijuana.

 

Deputy Gallup responded to 6621 Riverside Drive Yankeetown in reference to a disturbance.  Upon arrival the victim had several lacerations to the head and was bleeding from his face and inside his mouth.  Floyd is from Georgia and he was visiting his friend the victim.  While the two drank beer at the residence the victim stated that the attacked was unprovoked.  Floyd attacked the victim with a kitchen knife and the victim sustained non life threatening injuries.  During the investigation Deputy Gallup observed in plain view marijuana and Floyd stated "Yeah I smoked some, it's mine".  Floyd was arrested and transported to the Levy County Jail and has a $160,000 bond.

Violent Levy County Fugitive Arrested Yuma, Arizona

On February 1, 2012 the United States Marshals Service arrested a violent Levy County fugitive that fled to Mexico in 2002.



Stephen Ray Douglass, 62 was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender. Douglass was convicted in 1989 for brutally raping a woman in Florida. During the sexual assault, he intimidated his victim and threatened her with retaliation if the victim disclosed the crime.



Douglas served a fifteen year sentence in the Department of Corrections and was required by law to register as a sex offender for life. Douglas failed to register as a convicted sex offender and absconded in 2002 and his whereabouts were unknown. Due to Douglass not complying with State Statue a warrant was signed by Judge Joseph Smith and bond was set at $ 10,005.00.



Through a lengthy investigation the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, which Levy County deputies are members of sent a collateral lead to the US Marshals Service in Arizona. Douglass a United States citizen was living in San Luis Colorado Sonora, Mexico. US Marshals were able to coordinate Douglass' arrest at the Port of Entry.



On February 2, 2012 Honorable David Glant signed a Levy County Capias for Douglass' arrest and increased his bond to one million dollars. Douglas is well known by law enforcement and has been arrested for aggravated assault, battery with a weapon, aggravated battery and sex offenses.



Douglass is currently in jail in Yuma, Arizona. Included in this press release is Douglass' residence in Mexico.

Morriston Woman Arrested- Burglary in Progress

On February 2, 2012, the Levy County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a burglary in progress at a Williston home.   Upon Deputy Kevin Kinik's arrival he observed the suspect, Kathryn Jane Shroka climbing out a window.  Shroka had stolen items in her hand and she was immediately arrested for burglary, petit theft and possession of burglary tools.

 

Shroka had an outstanding Alachua County warrant for violation of probation for possession of cocaine and she was arrested and transported to the Levy County Jail.

Bronson Woman Arrested For Animal Cruelty

On January 31, 2012 Deputy Ella Anderson arrested Brenda Kay Nordstrom for felony cruelty to animals.  Nordstrom was transported to the Levy County Jail and at first appearance she received a $ 5,000 bond.

 

Deputy Ella Anderson responded to 609 Mashburn Drive Bronson, Fl in reference to a complaint of animal cruelty.  Upon arrival Anderson noticed two dogs inside the fence and they were malnourished and emaciated.  Anderson smelled an extremely foul odor that was similar to a decomposing body emitting from the residence and requested back up before entering the residence.

 

Upon entering the residence deputies were confronted with the most unsanitary conditions.  The conditions were deplorable with three inches of animal feces on the floor, cats had mange and the animals were extremely emaciated and had other possible diseases.  While clearing the house deputies could hear a noise coming from the bedroom and discovered several cats that were locked inside a bedroom.  The cats were clawing at the door attempting to escape the nasty room.

 

Deputies cleared the interior of the residence and did not locate anyone inside the house.  The conditions were so bad that CSI investigators had to dawn a biohazard suits and respirators in order to process the crime scene.

 

The Levy County Animal Control responded and removed five cats and two dogs from the residence.  Deputies located Nordstrom at 683 Gilbert Street and she admitted to having knowledge that her animals were in the above conditions.  Nordstrom admitted to owning the residence and the animals belonging to her.  When questioned why she did not seek medical attention for the animals she responded that due to their conditions she knew the animals would be euthanized.
