Mobile Meth Lab Located – Two Arrested

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force Investigators and investigators with the Chiefland Police Department and LCSO Uniform Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop at 2:12 pm this afternoon in the area of 14621 NW Hwy 19 north of Chiefland. 

Investigators learned through an anonymous tip a vehicle potentially had an active methamphetamine laboratory inside. Investigators discovered the information was “spot on” and an active methamphetamine laboratory was in the vehicle. Investigators found a “trafficking” amount of liquid methamphetamine. 

The 2012 black SUV driven by Jessica L. Aguon (7-11-96) of Old Town, Fl was seized. Augon and passenger David N. Collins (1-17-66) from Cross City have been arrested and transported to the Levy County Detention Bureau. They have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamines and trafficking in methamphetamine.

Mobile methamphetamine laboratories pose a huge risk to both our public and first responders. These labs are extremely unstable and first responders have additional concerns when attempting to make these volatile chemicals safe especially on the side of the road.

Weekend Shooting Incident Investigated

On Sunday May 7, 2017 a resident who lives on NE 210 Avenue in East Williston was awakened at 4 a.m. by a crashing sound inside his home. He investigated the sound but did not find anything wrong and went back to bed. At approximately 9:30 in the morning he discovered a bullet hole through his front window and called 911.

Deputies discovered someone fired a gun from outside the home. The bullet entered the resident’s north facing window, went through a recliner then lodged in the homeowner’s entertainment center. The bullet was recovered and it appears the weapon is a 9mm handgun.

The homeowner told investigating deputies this is not the first time his home has been shot. Approximately one month ago his front door was also shot.

Sex Offender Arrested

Christopher L. Caffie (9-24-92) who resides at 3731 NE 217 Court, Williston, was arrested for failure to comply with Sex Offender registration requirements on Friday May 5, 2017. Caffie was convicted of a sexual offense (a felony) in 2012 and is required to register with the Sheriff’s Office two times a year. He is also required to provide information such as vehicle registration information, employment information and internet identifiers. Investigators just recently discovered Caffie created a Facebook profile page using a fictitious identification in December of 2015. Caffie never reported having this Facebook profile. Caffie also failed to report his employer information.

Investigators captured digitally altered images posted by Caffie on his Facebook page depicting him holding various firearms and other gun photographs. Caffie is a convicted felon and the investigation is on-going to determine if Caffie still has possession of these weapons. Additional charges could be filed.

Williston Sex Offender Arrested

Jeffrey Earl Stark (10-22-63) who resides at 16421 NE 10th Street, Williston, was arrested by investigators on Friday, May 5, 2017, for failure to comply with Sex Offender registration requirements. Stark was convicted of a sexual offense in 2015 and is required register to with the Sheriff’s Office two times a year. In addition, he is required to provide information such as vehicle registration information and internet identifiers. Stark failed to register as required in April. Investigators spoke to Stark in January and told him his vehicle registration information had to be updated. Stark failed to provide vehicle information as instructed.

Stark resisted investigators attempts to take him into custody, and he has been charged with the additional offense of resisting arrest. Stark is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $305,000.00.

Rosewood Home Invasion Suspects Arrested

On April 17, 2017 multiple LCSO units, assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Air 1 helicopter, responded to 6351 SW 99 Court in Rosewood to a reported home invasion robbery. LCSO Deputies and Investigators searched for the suspects and later located an unoccupied burning vehicle in the unincorporated area of Rocky Hammock. This vehicle was positively identified as belonging to the robbery suspects.

Investigators positively identified Jimmie Lee Gunn Jr. (4-15-84) from Chiefland as the primary suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest within 12 hours of the offense. The second suspect was not immediately identified. The search for Gunn stalled when investigators learned he fled the Levy County area to another state.

Early reports that the suspects tied up one victim and exchanged gunfire with another occupant of the home have been confirmed. On Thursday, May 4, 2017, Dromandric Eli Gunn (3-27-76) turned himself in to authorities. D. Gunn was suffering from a gunshot wound that entered his buttocks and exited through the front of his hip. He gave a statement to Investigators once he was in custody. He said he participated in the home invasion and suffered the gunshot wound during the robbery. He has been on the run since, moving from state to state. He surrendered because of complications with the gunshot wound. He is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $2,525,000.00.

Jimmie Gunn was taken into custody Friday, May 5, 2017 in Chiefland. J. Gunn surrendered to law enforcement after arguing with family members who were attempting to convince him to turn himself in to law enforcement. This argument prompted a 911 call and when officers arrived, he peacefully surrendered. Jimmie Gunn is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at 5 million dollars.

Investigators have discovered this incident was not a random act but a poorly planned targeted robbery. The investigation is still ongoing. Other participants have been identified and charges will be filed in the near future.
