LCSO Deputies and Detectives are currently investigating a
shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of October 30, 2021. The incident occurred at a residence south of
Chiefland at approximately 5:20 AM.
The investigation thus far shows that James Robert McCualsky,
Jr. (10-12-98,) suffered a single gunshot wound during the incident. McCualsky, who resided in Old Town, was
treated on the scene and transported to a Gainesville hospital by the Levy
County Department of Public Safety. McCualsky
ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The
crime scene was processed by members of the LCSO Criminal Investigations
Division.
Detectives are confident that they have identified all of
the persons involved in the incident. The
investigation remains pending but no criminal charges are anticipated at this
time. Additional details about the
investigation will be provided at its conclusion.
