Neighbor Dispute Ends in Shooting

February 18, 2021

Deputies responded to 7450 NE 136 Avenue which is located east of Bronson shortly after noon yesterday to a reported shooting. Deputies arrived and found Jeffrey Gregg (12/3/86) suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Gregg was not conscious and was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center. His condition is currently critical.

Detectives arrived and began their investigation. Detectives learned Gregg was involved in an argument with neighbors Jessica Butler and her paramour Andrew Hickey (4/21/79), earlier in the day. Witnesses reported Gregg returned to his home next door after making several threats. Gregg exited his home with a firearm and fired several rounds into the air before retreating back inside.

Approximately twenty minutes elapsed and witnesses report Gregg returned to the neighboring property. He was armed with two knives and began attacking Hickey. Walter Seibert (3/13/53) who resides on the same property with Andy witnessed this attack and went to intervene. Seibert armed himself with a Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun, concealing it in his waistband, before confronting Gregg. Gregg turned his attack toward Seibert, shoving him to the ground and stabbing him in the upper torso.  Seibert then drew his handgun and fired a single round striking Gregg in the stomach.

Detectives discovered a web of relationships that was complicated by illegal drug use between Butler, Hickey and Gregg, which fueled this altercation. Butler had departed the property between the time Gregg brandished the gun and fired rounds into the air and before he returned to the property armed with the knives. She returned to the home hours later and was interviewed. Detectives seized her backpack that she said contained drugs. Detectives also executed a search warrant on Gregg’s home and located additional evidence.

At this stage of the investigation no arrests have been made. Evidence collected by crime scene and witness statements confirmed Seibert acted in self-defense. Gregg is currently being investigated and could face multiple felony charges upon his release from the hospital. Butler is also being investigated and could face felony charges to include drug possession.
