Sheriff McCallum continues his partnership with Levy County School Superintendent Chris Cowart in their ZERO tolerance of school violence against school employees. School Resource Deputy J. Gulledge arrested a 10th Grade 15 year old male yesterday at the Chiefland Middle/High School for battery on a school employee.
This student was actively fighting another student when school officials intervened. The student continued to fight even after staff ordered him to stop fighting and physically pulled him away from the other student. One staff member was struck twice by this student and suffered minor injuries. Deputy Gulledge arrested the student who was transported to the Levy County Detention Center and later released to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
“There is no reason for school teachers, staff and administrators to be battered by students or anyone else. If you choose this type of behavior then you can expect to be charged and held accountable.” said Sheriff McCallum.
