Chiefland Search Warrant Nets Guns/Drugs/Money

The Levy County Drug Task Force completed a lengthy drug investigation yesterday by executing a search warrant at a known drug house located at 10091 NW 40 Avenue just east of the City of Cheifland. Drug Detectives arrested two individuals during the investigation for a myriad of crimes.

Thomas Barr (6/5/71) of Chiefland was located inside the home and was arrested. He has been charged with five weapons offenses and four drug distribution charges. Barr is a multi-time convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing a firearm and has already served 1 sentence in the Florida Department of Corrections.

Christopher McQuay (8/10/83) of Chiefland was located by deputies a short distance away from the home. Drug Detectives knew McQuay resided at the home they were searching and took him into custody. McQuay has been charged with four weapon offenses and three drug offenses. He was previously convicted of multiple felonies and prohibited from possessing a firearm. He too has previously served 3 sentences in the Florida Department of Corrections.

Detectives spent hours searching this home. At the conclusion of the search Detectives seized $63,871.00 in cash, four firearms; one verified as being previously reported stolen from Chiefland and another previously reported stolen from Tampa. Detectives also seized 98 grams of powder cocaine, crack cocaine and 84 grams of marijuana.

Both men are being held in the Levy County Detention Center. Thomas Barr’s bond has been set at $476,000.00 and Christopher McQuad’s bond has been set at $326,000.00.
