Missing/Located Child UPDATE, Inglis Florida

June 17, 2019

This morning LCSO Deputies at approximately 10 a.m. responded to the Dollar General in Inglis, Florida after a small child dressed in only a diaper came into the store alone. Deputies immediately began to canvass the area seeking the parent/guardians. Within approximately 30 minutes the family of this child was located.

Many comments were posted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page from citizens who are concerned for the safety of this child. To put your minds at ease the Department of Children and Family Services has been contacted and will conduct a home study. This child was left in the care of a teenaged sibling while the parents went to work. They are not local to Inglis and have only temporarily established residency there while waiting on their home to be completed. This child apparently loves to hide from his siblings and the babysitter was not aware the child had climbed out a window.

There is no evidence of any criminal wrong-doing and no criminal charges will be filed in this case.

The LCSO thanks all of our community members that offered suggestions and shared our post as this did aid the investigation and help us reunite this child with his parents.
