On September 10, 2016 at 5:49 pm Levy County Department of
Public Safety (LCDPS) personnel were sent to the “Out-of-Towners” RV Park
located at 21151 NE Highway 27 Alternate outside the City of Williston by Levy
County 911. The 911 caller reported an individual was bleeding profusely from
what appeared to be stab wounds. LCDPS
personnel transported the victim to Shands at UF under a trauma alert.
Deputies responded to the scene and determined the victim
had suffered numerous stab wounds. Investigators interviewed the victim at Shands
and determined he had been in an altercation with a neighbor.
Ernest Brown (1-9-55) was identified as the neighbor
involved in the altercation. Brown told investigators the victim came to his
home sat down and lit crack cocaine a pipe. Brown stated he slapped the glass
pipe out of the victim’s hand and while doing so was attacked by the victim and
suffered a knife wound on his hand. Brown said he retrieved a kitchen knife to
protect himself and when attacked again, he stabbed the victim several times.
The investigation revealed the victim had been stabbed 10
times in the upper torso and back. This caused extensive internal damage and
collapsed both lungs. The victim had to be rushed into emergency surgery to
save his life.
Brown was arrested and transported to the Levy County
Detention Facility and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He
is being held on a $100,000.00 bond.
