**Tropical Storm Hermine 3:15 PM Update**


Citizens requesting up to date storm information or to verify rumors are asked to call the Levy County Emergency Management at 352-486-5155 or 352-486-5576.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning impacting Levy County. Tropical storm strength winds are expected to reach the Levy County coast line at 6 pm today.

Road Closures due to flooding:

  • CR 40 at the Yankeetown General Store has been closed.
  • SR 24 at the Number 4 Bridge has been closed.

Shelter locations are open at the following locations:

  • Chiefland Elementary 1205 NW 4th Avenue Chiefland
  • Bronson Elementary 400 Ishie Avenue Bronson including Special Needs
  • Williston High School (old High School) 427 West Noble Avenue Williston

If you live in a surge prone area NOW is the time to evacuate. If you have not evacuated as of yet, please take this time to pack essential needs and move away from the coastal areas and Suwannee River basin now.

Levy County is currently on a High Tide cycle and roads are flooding, making travel more difficult. This is not the time to go into the flooded areas as you may become stranded. Rescue will not be possible once winds reach 40 MPH.
