Arrest Made for Possession of Child Pornography

August 15, 2016

Levi Jermaine Griffin (7-12-1977) was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division on August 12, 2016. Investigators were contacted by Griffin’s Federal Probation Officer who had received information that Griffin was in possession of images of children on his computer, which the complainant believed were pornographic.

Investigators met with the complainant and recovered a tablet style computer. During the interview with the complainant, a description of the images seen on the computer was given. LCSO investigators immediately began the process to obtain a search warrant for the device.

Based upon the complainant’s description of these images, investigators located and interviewed Griffin. Griffin initially refused to answer questions and was released. However, he was given an order to have no contact with the material witness in their investigation. Investigators learned that within the same hour Griffin contacted the complainant and attempted to convince them to destroy the evidence. Griffin was located and arrested for tampering with a witness.

LCSO Investigators obtained a warrant for the tablet and located 164 images of children which do classify as pornographic. Griffin was also charged with possession of child pornography.

Griffin is being held at the Levy County Detention Facility on a $350,000 bond and is charged with Tampering with a Witness and Possession of Child Pornography.
