Mario Areaga Barrios (9-18-52) was arrested by LCSO
Investigator Scott Stancil on May 7, 2016 after stabbing a man during a
dispute. Investigator Stancil reported the victim and Barrios were having a
cook out and drinking beer. Something was said about Barrios’ family and a
fight erupted. Barrios had a 10 inch butcher knife he was using to cut meat and
used it to stab the victim in the sternum area. The victim was transported to
Shands at UF for treatment.
Barrios had fled the scene prior to Law Enforcement’s
arrival, but was found a short distance away and arrested. He has been booked
into to the Levy County Detention Facility, charged with aggravated battery
with a deadly weapon, and is being held on a $100,000.00 bond.
