Arrest Jonathon Mitchem

Williston, Florida- On April 13, 2009 Deputy Joseph Sabbag arrested Jonathon Mitchem for aggravated assault and he was transported to the Levy County Jail.

 

Deputies responded to the BP Station at 5250 NE 140 Court in reference to a man waving a gun in the parking lot.  Prior to Deputy Sabbag's arrival the suspect fled south on Alt 27 in a silver Buick.  Williston Police Department stopped the suspect, Jonathon Mitchem and detained him until Deputies arrived.     

 

The investigation revealed that Mitchem and the victim has had problems since the Crab Fest in 2008.  The victim and Mitchem had a verbal altercation at the Dollar General Store in Williston earlier in the evening.  The confrontation resulted in no physical confrontation and both parties dispersed.  Approximately three hours later the victim and Mitchem were in an altercation at the BP Station.  During the argument Mitchem pulled and pointed a pistol at the victim and placed the victim in fear of his life.  There were several witnesses that observed this incident and called 9-1-1. 

 

The suspect stated that he had a 22 caliber pistol behind his back for protection, but stated that he never pointed the gun at anyone.
